So, why no ‘ukulele seven? Longer story, in a later post. There is, or will be, an ‘ukulele 7. The body is just being finished up now.
‘Ukuleles 8, 9, 10 were all built as gifts. Eight and Nine were built by my son Jeremy, with my help, as graduation presents for two college friends. They all studied Marine Biology together at the University of Rhode Island (see post about ‘Ukulele 5). Josh (#8) is into sharks, and Emily (#9) is into Sea Turtles. Check out the headstock images.
Number Ten was built as a 10th birthday present for our Niece, who is also my wife’s goddaughter. She has been enamored of my ‘ukuleles for a few years and I promised her when she got a bit older that there would be one in her future, and now there is. The Fleur-de-lis was just a piece of inlay that I did for no particular reason, I just liked it. Each of my ‘ukuleles so far have had unique (I hope) inlays, all different (so far!).
I think she likes it!
