was held yesterday at Brandeis University, in Waltham, Massachusetts. A great time was had by all.
The melee is put together by the members of the Ukulele Union of Boston, of which I am a card carrying member. Well, really, we don’t have actual cards. But shouldn’t we, if it is a union?
The Union meets in Boston twice a month and welcomes all comers, all the time. The format is usually first hour is strum-alongs of tunes of all kinds, from the 20’s to current pop and rock, and everything in between. The 2nd hour is usually open mic, ranging from individuals who want to show something they’re working on to small impromptu groups who just get together to perform something. No pressure, you never have to perform, it’s all voluntary. I’ve only done it once, but that’s another story.
So, if you’d like to have some ‘ukulele fun, check out Ukulele Union of Boston, also known as UUoB. We’d love to see more people get involved. The world would be a better place if everyone played the ‘ukulele!
