Vasilij Vasilevich Andreev, father of the balalaika

Vasilij Vasilevich Andreev is known as the father of the balalaika. Andreev, a wealthy landowner, is credited with reviving the balalaika by working with master craftsmen to make it what it is today. Andreev was an accomplished violinist who fell in love with the balalaika and later became a virtuoso player. He founded the “Great Russian Orchestra”.
